Shortly after graduation from high school at the age of 18, Brenda was converted, experienced a deep longing for God and accepted a call to ministry. In 1973 she moved from Michigan to Atlanta, Georgia to attend Beulah Heights University (BHU) in pursuit of the call to ministry. She received a BA degree from BHU in 1977 with honors.
In 1979, she was married to Samuel Chand. Their ministry led them to Portland, Oregon; Hartford, Michigan and back to Atlanta in 1989 where Sam served as President of BHU (1989-2003). Brenda’s role in ministry has been to be, first, a support for what God is doing through her husband. While pastoring, Brenda’s ministry was flavored with diversity ranging from teaching nursery age children to leading women’s ministries to working with teens and the elderly. In addition, she has been a seminar and retreat speaker, and is a contributing author in the book Failure: The Womb of Success. At her home church Brenda is active in ministry. She has served as Assistant Pastor, director of Women’s Ministries, adult teacher, and as leadership development coordinator. Brenda received the Master of Ministry degree in Leadership from Southwestern Christian University. Brenda has served as adjunct instructor at BHU since 2002 in the area of leadership. She has taught such courses as: Spiritual Formation; Laws of Leadership; Leadership Coaching; Oral Communication, and Marriage and Family. Currently, she is a candidate for the Doctor of Ministry degree at Oral Roberts University. She is most passionate about teaching spiritual formation, and developing others through life coaching.
She has two daughters-Rachel and Debbie, and a granddaughter-Adeline Joy.
